Merkle International, Inc. supplies the incinerator and waste to energy industries with whole furnace structures, including roofs, walls, curtains and stack openings. These structures are made using the proprietary Merkle Modu-Lok® system. The Modu-Lok system utilizes pre-fired refractory shapes along with metallic hangers and structural steel. These pre-fired shapes generally have a longer installed life and higher resistence to corrosion than plastic or castable systems. Merkle has extensive experience in suspended refractory systems, dating back to 1973. Merkle has worked with both industrial and municipal incineration facilities. Merkle works with its customers to find the best long-term solution for their incinerator needs. Our staff will work with you to determine the exact refractory quality that fits your facility and your budget. As a supplier of innovative equipment and systems, Merkle is also a problem-solver. The Best in the Business Merkle works with incinerator customers and delivers what the customer needs. Certain plants may require a steady feed, while others have wide variations in the feed material and incinerator operating pressure. Certain designs and materials are better suited to certain applications. We work with customers for long term success. When working with existing facilities, Merkle often starts by installing a test panel. When the test panel has proved the superiority of the Merkle system, the customer orders a replacement for another section of wall or roof. After a period of time, the entire furnace will be converted to the Merkle Modu-Lok system. Read on for more information about the Merkle Modu-Lok system. Simplicity Two shapes build the complete roof or tied-back wall--often with complex configuration. Versatility Support brick can be placed on 4-, 8-, 12-, or 16-inch centers. Stability Support brick is heavily treaded on all four sides to support maximum number of filler brick. Thermal Efficiency Allows for maximum insulation. With hangers on 8-inch centers, the Modu-Lok roof allows for 75% coverage; with hangers on 12-inch centers, coverage is 84%; with hangers on 16-inch centers, coverage is 88%. Metallic Support Design locks metallics on both support brick and steel structures. Metallics are clear of insulation, which adds to service life. Metallics can be made as stampings or castings in materials to suit particular applications. Modu-LokŪ Suspended Roof
MT Modu-LokŪ Walls Modu-Lok walls are supplied in tied-back only and suspended and tied-back designs. For high-wear areas and/or taller walls, the suspended and tied-back construction is recommended. For both designs, the metallics and support steel are kept a safe distance from the insulation. This aids the cooling of the metallics and lengthens their life. MT Modu-LokŪ Bullnoses
MT Modu-LokŪ Curtain The MT Modu-Lok construction allows construction of independent flat suspended covers, and suspended curtains or baffles. This construction is extremely simple, with the curtains built using only one parent shape. CMC403 and M203-C Castings, Flange-LokŪ CMC403 and M203-C castings, as well as Flange-LokŪ metallics are used in the Modu-LokŪ system. Please see our data sheets for more information.
